My name is Kanika Tolver and I am the founder of AMADI Magazine, which is an online urban business magazine in Washington, DC. I hope you can take a moment to visit our new FEB 2010 issue and past monthly issues. I really admire your commitment to the hip hop community and I am passionate about music, art, fashion and community outreach and that is why I wanted to provide urban communities with an on-line social business network, which would allow individuals to share their business ventures and dreams with others throughout the urban community. I conducted research and discovered that no magazine existed which inspires individuals between the ages of 18 to 30 to live out their dreams.

When I was younger I was a plus size child, but I was happy no matter if kids picked at me then as a preteen it started to worry me. I would think of ways to change, but no matter what my mother said or my friends said it did not matter. Until a guy that used to pick on me and stated that “Tammy no matter what you do even if you lose weight, gain, wear makeup or don’t or just do anything people are going to talk about you even if you kiss up to them so do what makes you happy and live life to the fullest and do what you want. Since then I have been doing just that and thank God for that advice and hope and wish all little girls and teenagers don’t be like everyone else and don’t listen to the picking and trash talk people around them do. My mother has always taught us to be an individual and be different.

I am a 14 year old Young Strong minded Lady and so far on my journey through life i have learned that their will be people who love your presence and you as a person and then their will be people who don’t like you just because you are simply you. What only matters is what you take from that life lesson and what you turn it into and i’ve learned to turn it in to love . To love who i am and what i do and i express that through my poetry and to those around me. So to Pepsi and all the inspiring Women on Pepsi we inspire THANK YOU.
