I had the great fortune of eating the delicious food of Domenica Fratelli, Oprah’s chef. I would eat 3 course meals, and feel light and terrific afterwards. She combines organic, seasonal ingredients in a way that aids (not hinders) digestion. She is also one of the most loving people I’ve ever met, and her food reflected that.

The first meal I had of hers, I remember the dessert – a creamy, delicate ice cream; sweet, a little tangy, and creeeeamy! Straightaway I was surprised at the fact that she’d obviously used cream, ( I knew she didn’t use heavy, fatty ingredients). I asked her and she said… “oh no, it’s sugar and dairy free” – I was baffled – sweet and creamy; the best ice cream I’d ever eaten. And check out the ingredients – agave syrup, lime juice, mint leaves and…. AVOCADO. I know!! Crazy right? I swear to you,, forget cravings for full cream artery clogging desserts, this is it. In fact my husband and girls gave me an ice-cream maker for Mother’s Day that year – just so I could make my ‘green ice cream’. My youngest daughter Nico LOVES her green ice cream – and helps me make it – scooping out the avocado flesh, squeezing the limes… it’s become one of our favourite rituals. Love your body, feel the joy of nourishing it with goodness. Go Green!
