When I was in London I left my purse in a taxi! You’ll never believe it, but it was returned to me. I have lost items and found them, and I have lost things of meaning and value and to my dismay, never saw them again. A different kind of lost and found was experienced when I lost my dignity and didn’t understand why the chilly winds of life left me shivering with hidden fears and silent tears. It can be terrifying to be physically, emotionally, spiritually or financially lost, whether in life, or in a country where you don’t know anyone, but to me the scariest possibility is the loss of my selfhood, dignity and my wholeness. The great and glorious news is that I was lost, couldn’t find my way, but wisdom quietly showed up and whispered in my ear and spirit, that being lost was only for a season. Eventually, I found myself…picking up the shattered and broken pieces of me which I had discarded or someone else saw as trash. You too can find yourself and take the broken pieces of your life and dreams and use what is left to build a meaningful life. Some people enjoy the savory taste of leftovers. Don’t count yourself out because you were once lost. That was then and this is now! Wisdom say begin again, acknowledge that you are or were lost, do so without shame and own with your whole heart that you desire, deserve and are committed to being found. The gift is to find ourselves rather than depending on someone else to do so.
