On March 4 was I honored to host the Freedom’s Sisters luncheon sponsored by the Ford Motor Company. We honored local women who are making a real difference through their humanitarian efforts. Women like actress/philanthropist Holly Robinson Peete, community organizer Sweet Alice Harris and noted sculptor Artis Lane. Women who inspire us all. But it was when civil rights icon Myrlie Evers Williams spoke,we knew were in the presence of true greatness. She inspired us with our history and our future and shared with us her courage and the courage of her family. I saw in her my grandmother and my mother and all the women who have gone before. We owe them our strength, gratitude, love and our hard work to make them proud as we honor Freedom’s Sisters.
