Sticks and Stones
What a big lie, “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” Yes, sticks and stones can cause us physical harm if thrown at us, but without a doubt words can slay a person’s spirit and soul, robbing them of their sense of dignity and joy like nothing else. In the Old Testament it says that “The power of life and death is in the tongue.” Decide today that your tongue is going to be used to speak life and not death, not only into the lives of people close to you as well as strangers, but that you are going to begin this gentle revolution of using your words mindfully, honestly and tenderly beginning with yourself. Being kind to yourself is wisdom in action, it is the beginning of all genuine transformation…all other areas of growth can follow if your mouth is no longer used as a weapon of mass destruction against you or anyone else.
