Recently I was included in a published thesis anthology called Caribbean Women Writers along with authors Jean Rhys, Dionne Brand, Karrine Steffans, Marie-Elena John, Jamaica Kincaid and Maryse Condé. I was surprised to see the younger contemporary writers – that would be me along with bestseller Karrine Steffans – in such esteemed company as my mentors whom I studied in college; Jean Rhys, Jamaica Kincaid and Maryse Condé.

The lesson for me is that we should never underestimate ourselves, the value we add to our culture, and the impact that we may be making at any level.

I have since switched my sentiment from surprised to grateful. Thank you!

I made a list of all of the things that bring me joy for joy’s sake — that bring me no income. One of those things is FASHION. So just for the fun of it I set up a fashion diary on my website. What can you do just for the FUN of it?!
